The final concert of 2024. I was approached by this artist recently to take this concert on. He understood my concerns but he said that this concert had been well received. He advised me that later this year a pre-licensed ITVX (UK Broadcaster) TV series titled "So Long Marianne". So again Keith James will be coming to St Mary's Garthorpe to perform The Songs of Leonard Cohen. This is not a tribute act of Leonard Cohen and that would be hard to do but a great tribute to Leonard Cohen in Keith James ' way. This band has had top hits back in the day and still touring the UK/Europe today and coming to Garthorpe Village Hall. Meet The Band: Alan Lovell. Lead Guitar / Lead Vocals Alan started his career in the early Sixties. and has toured & recorded with many named acts such as: - Marty Wilde - PJ Proby - Denny Laine to name but a few. Peter Oakman. Bass Player / Vocals Peter began his music career in 1956 with The Spacemen Skiffle Group. In 1957, guitarist Joe Brown joined the group which by 1959 became Joe Brown & the Bruvvers. During the early sixties, Joe Brown and The Bruvvers had a string of hits, including the No. 1 hit ' A Picture of You, written by Peter Oakman which topped the charts in the summer of 1962. Graham Hollingworth. Drums: At the age of 17 after playing in several northern groups, Graham soon got booked on major tours around the world playing for the likes of: - The Supremes, The Drifters, Martha Reeves, Harold Melvin, Cliff Richard & Billy Paul, 'Me & Mrs Jones'. He has also toured extensively worldwide for 15 years, playing drums with Rock 'n' Roll Legend Chuck Berry. This band is full of professional and experienced Musicians. We welcome a local artist who is gaining popularity in the UK and her last critically acclaimed album Evergreen has had stunning reviews. Carrie Martin born and bred in Yorkshire has become a very popular artist in the Folk World but also works with Oliver Wakeman the son of Rick Wakeman from the Prog Rock Band Yes and Gordon Giltrap who quotes "It’s pretty obvious from the moment you hear Carrie Martin sing that she is an outstanding vocalist with passion in each breath. Don’t be too sidetracked by that voice and stage persona and well-crafted songs, because you might just miss the fact that she is a fine guitar player as well! A bit of diversity but Live Music Garthorpe is not about one music taste/Genre it is about supplying concerts for different tastes. Ken Nicole, you might not be familiar with this great Folk, blues easy listening Guitarist and vocalist. Ken has connections with the Bands- Easy Street, The Albion Band, and Steeley Span and worked with Al Stewart ( 24 Karat) Phil Cool, and others. He is a singer and songwriter. Info on Alchemy Live: Alchemy Live, the new tribute to Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler. Formed in 2022 by frontman Martin Ledger, Alchemy Live hail from Yorkshire and bring together a group of professional players and friends who share a common love of the music of Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits. Collectively the band have toured worldwide and have shared the stage with rock legends such as Mike Rutherford, Mick Hucknell, Roger Taylor and many more. Alchemy Live are all about the music, no lookalike competitions here. They recreate the Dire Straits sound as accurately as possible, with a painstaking attention to detail. Every guitar solo is taken from a specific show and reproduced note for note. Close your eyes and you're right there, at the Hammersmith Odeon back in 1983!
